Sorry Robert but it is Mud it looks almost like a sand colored paint but it is mud. It was pretty fine stuff and according to the ref's I have usually mixed with a solvent and painited on. The famous Shot of Major Jim is an example of this type of application.So while it looks like paint and really acted like paint it is the local mud and was allowde to wash off (wear off really) once greener areas were recaptured.
