Hello Piotr,

Sorry this has taken so long, I dont get much chance to just read the forums. I have a photo for you which is 750kb if it is ok I will send it to your mail account, I could not post photo with this reply due to system restrictions.

So 25Pdr, the handles you refer to are known as Gun Spikes, each 25Pdr had two, the stowage for these were on the right hand, outside lower edge of the Gun Trail. If you look at the attached photo you will see one in the stowage near the gun commanders knees.

The forward end fitted into a bracket with two holes (one over the other) ant the aft ends fitted in a "U" shaped bracket.

The Gun Spikes were used not only to traverse the gun but to move it, there are three brackets near the towing pintle, one one the centre line of the gun and two at right angles.

The included photo is of 25pdrs being fired in Australia in the 1950's

I hope this helps

Cliff Wignell
