Bob,
The saddle pivots from a point just below the nose of the saddle. The springs are operated in extension when loaded, so the rear of the saddle moves up and down. 2 extension springs are mounted horizontally either side of a Y shaped saddle frame. The whole thing sits on a single tube mounted into an inverted U shaped frame that is bolted to the floor and straddles the gearbox just in front of the clutch bell housing.
