Roy's list is quite actually. The biggest problem, like he said, with Sherman is the overlap between versions, updates, new parts etc. Not wanting to slow production, it just kept going, using new designs as they came available, and rebuilding tanks alreay issued.
Well, as for the change from dry to wet, Ordnance constantly improved and assesed the Sherman series. By summer 1943, there was quite a list of changes to the design, inlcuding new ammo stowage. In July 1943, they started designing 'the ultimate Sherman'. So from summer 1943 on, gun tanks produced had the wet ammo stowage.
