....and another quite simple explanation for the Quantity Question can be found by just looking at a map.
The home-country of the Netherlands fits many hundreds of times into present day's Indonesia (ie. ex-Netherlands East Indies) territory.
A larger country needs a larger army with more equipment.
Besides which, if the majority of these vehicles would have been kept for Home Defence, it remains to be seen if they would have made a significant difference in our defence during May 1940.
Having said that, both the original question and the previous answers are interesting and very useful
