Mike,

The strain of living in one of these things came across my mind while in the Sherman. Not being able to shower days on end, fear of being shot at any time not to mention the frustration of just keeping it running. We spent a good deal of time dealing with the engine that weekend. I'm sure that extended exposure to all those fumes is not good for your health. If I wasn't helping I could have photograpghed some good diorama themes of maintenance on the tank (wrenches, opening engine hatches -those were REALLY heavy-, refueling, water coolant etc.).

Once you got use to it it wasn't all that bad. Worst is my hugh nose got burnt badly. Face was a beet red the first day before I realized that yoy could get sunburnt even in Minnesota. The last 2 days sunblock was manditory.

Fortunately we threw no tracks (those suckers are pretty heavy too).
