Hmmm, I wonder who they checked with about the turret. . .

Those dates for pistol port deletion sound more like when the change was ordered rather than made. I've seen GSC turrets dated 2/8, 2/10, and 2/15/43 with functioning PPs, ones from April and May with welded ports, June and July with deleted ports, and turrets dated 8/10 and 8/19/43 that were still without ports.

The raised characters on the turret top will be the part (D50878) and serial numbers (SER XXXXE). They're about an inch high. (Can you read the serial off your video?) The acceptance dates will be 1/4 inch high numbers stamped into the metal rather than being raised above.

If the data plate is missing the serial of these Fords can be found stamped into the rear upper hull plate toward the outside on both sides and on the glacis below the lift lugs, but these are frequently obscured.

Did they happen to say where the 1953 rebuild was done? Did it have one of those "folding combs" on the glacis in front of the driver's hatch?

Thx,
KL
