Kurt,
Man you are good! As far as the dates for the turret I took the information from the Hunnicutt book. As far as the information they said it came with the tank when they bought. I haven't seen the document but going on what the owners told me.
Yes you can read the numbers on the roof from the videos. The numbers are D50878 and SER43281. You know they said where it was rebuilt but can't remember. I can call and ask (Harold lives 15 miles from me). Yes it does have the folding comb in front of the driver's hatch on the glacious.
The engine is however not the Ford GAA but the Ford GAF from a Pershing. We were having heating problems on Saturday and Sunday. One problem was the right fan had only one belt and that was worn thus not turning the fan properly. It was also leaking fluid all over. Randy's first impression was that we blew a head gasket and exhaust gases were bubbling into the cooling sytem making it leak. The first driver on Friday left the fuel pump on. gas all over the place. The cylinders were under too much pressure and wouldn't start. We had to pull the plugs and turn the engine over to push out the gas. Harold and I were looking it over Monday night and found a hugh leak in the left water pipe that goes from the overflow/filler to the head. A bad rusty weld. Harold has the pipe but it is for the GAA engine. The one on the GAF is higher and longer so we are planning on welding extensions to fit the head properly. He has new belts on the way. He is hoping that fixing the pipe and belts will solve the heating problem. A lot simpler and cheaper than doing a head gasket.
As always you are tops on Sherman info.

Next time i see the tank I'll check the glacious for the markings. It might be this weekened |
