Chapter 5: Hull: suspension and fenders

The great thing about the Tamiya M26 is that you can articulate the suspension. This is important for the SP because it had a definite nose-heavy look due to all the added weight of the add-on armor. The Tamiya hull and suspension builds up very nicely. I removed the telephone mounting from the rear. For the T26E4, I needed to fabricate new fenders as the T26E4 had the early T26E1 narrow fenders. I chopped the ones off of the kit and replicated the narrow ones with .010" styrene sheet and brass front and rear fenders. I embossed the brass with a ball-point pen to replicate the ribs on the fenders. Turnbuckle supports will eventually be used on all the brass fenders.

I noticed that the T26E1/T26E4 had stowage lockers without the round "vents". I simply shaved these off and finished with replacement latch handles from Tiger Model Designs. These really improve the appearance of these lockers.
