Chapter 4 - The Hull Underway.
Here is a closer shot of the hull. The plastic card around the rear of the hull is the start of work needed to widen the rear hull by .030" on each side.
The grey circle is the epoxy putty that I used to fillin the existing turret ring location prior to moving it back about 0.170". I'll also have to make a new engine deck from scratch to fit it in.
The lighter coloured area around the turret ring is where I had to mill the top of the hull down by about 0.050". A mill is a great thing for this work, let me tell you!
Finally the big blob at the left front is where I am filling in the auxilliary MG turret and will add the ball MG mount.
I'll add a chapter when I have more progress on the hull reshaping and you will be able to see what I mean about the hull profile radii being too small. It makes the corners too tight. The Ram definitely had a softer, more rounded look than the Resicast hull. |
