Chapter 9 - Paras

As I said earlier, I have moved to painting with acrylics. I have a selection of a few Andrea paints, a bunch of PollyScale military and railroad colors, and a wide selection of cheapo craft paints (amazing color ranges available for less than a buck a bottle).

I used a basic acrylic flesh paint for the base colors, then using diluted paint I did the shadows of the faces. The eyes were painted with dots of grey filled with a spot of very dark blue, then the borders adjusted with the shadow flesh color (flesh base mixed with burnt umber & alazarine red). The highlights had a bit of white added to the flesh base color. I used a light glazing wash over most of the face to blend the highlights and shadows. Each of these faces is the second attempt with the acrylics. I used a bit of off-white for the yelling guy's teeth. His lips are flesh base with a touch of pink.

The uniforms are painted with a pollyScale RR Mud base for the denison smock. Helmets have been started. The headless figure had a lot of surgery to his left arm to make it fit and match up with the Bren gun. I've gotten used to high end metal/resin figures which have much better fit than these Warriors offerings!
The faces are near done, and I'm nearly content with them! The isolated head has some wierd marks on it that are invisible to the naked eye. I'll have to fix up his cheeks. Comments/Criticisms/Suggestions welcomed!
