Chapter -32 The Gun Barrel Bracket

Here I have replaced the kits offering with a scratch built version of my own. Picture #1. shows the bracket that I made using spare brass and solder. It is mounted to the hull in the front were the old ones have been cut off. The reason I did this, other than to practice the soldering thing, is the bracket in the kit is not hollow like the real thing- I felt this was too noticeable for me to pass it by. Picture #2. Show one of the gun supports made by using an appropriately sized bit of brass rod , to which I have CA'ed the cannibalized upper part from the kits bits. The other end of the rod has been glued to the other end piece if the kit part as well. This is being carefully drilled out to allow the mounting pin I will fabricate to pass through both this part and the bracket. #3. shows the bracket attached. Picture #4. is of the other side almost complete- only the mounting of the cross piece is left,(#5. & #6.). Image #7. is the pair of them done-awaiting the paint. #8. shows the primer coat of flat black and finally 10 is a shot showing the application of the dunkelgelb. These will receive the usual Future, oil wash treatment. After this they were mounted onto the hul,(breaking off a cou[ple of times) and I'm fairly happy with the result.
