Chapter 12 - Forward Hull Contours
This detail shot shows how the ball turret mount has been added to the hull to replace the auxilliary MG turret of the earlier vehicles. A new driver's hatch has been made that is larger than the Tamiya Lee door by about .030 all aound.
Just in front of the hatch you can see grey putty aft of a thin band of tan resin. The aft-most line of the resin is approximately where the driver's hatch was initially located on the resin hull. Almost 1/2" has been removed from this area of the hull along with a substantial amount of the glasis to get the angles and locations right.
The notch in the right front corner of the early hull design has been filled in for this later version.
The raised "collar" around the bow gunner's hatch is there so I can add a little more height to the cast lip around the hatch. My first attempt was a bit too shallow. |
