Chapter 1. - Roll Call

Here can be seen in this montage of the major component kits being brought in on this build. It is amazing that such a small model kit will be packed with so much stuff.

Tristar is a new company that has raised the bar in off the shelf modelling and excellence in detail and accuracy. Prior to this Panzer Ia, the company had released twol figure sets, with high praise from all around. This kit(cat. #003)is their first vehicle and is a joy to behold. I have built one before, http://www.track-link.net/gallery/2025 even attempting to cobble together an interior for it on my own.

I was half way through, of course, when Tristar announced the news of a complete interior for their Panzer I. So I decided to build the first one with the hatches sealed up, with the thought to have another go later, this time with the Tristar cast resin interior. Both of these kits are comparitively expensive but the detail is well worth it, in my opinion. The resin interior set has some flaws in the surface texture (tooling marks) but they are easily smoothed out. It is far better that your average resin detail aftermarket kit out there.

With this build I will also be using two photo etch sets- one from Lion Roar, made specifically for this kit. The other photo-etch I will use is from the set from Aber for the Panzer Ib, (Italai,Zvesda). Interior bits for the veiw ports will be scavenged from this set. As the Tristar kit already has a great set of single link tracks no need for any after market tracks.
