Chapter 2 - Getting the Goods on Panzer Is
Reference for building this tiny tank include:
1. Military Miniatures In Review - No. 31 has an article by Pat Stansell with a basic "built from the box" review.
2. AFV modeller - Issue 12 carries a more in depth article by Tony Greenland in which he augments the already apparent detail of the kit itself with some brass bits off of an Aber photo-etch set, (one meant for a Historic Pz.I, as the new Aber set for the Tristar model had not been released at the time of his build.)
3. Military Modelling (three issues!);
Vol.32 No.13 features a straight forward build-up from Steve Zaloga. He does opt for the interesting tricolour scheme that incorporates yellow, brown and green in wavy shapes utilized in the early years. Reading Jentz's book on the Panzer I (see below), has me leaning towards this version as well.
Vol.32 No.15 Chris Mrosko does a straight ahead build going for a Spanish Civil War camouflage paint job.
Vol.33 No.01 features a DAK version brought to us by Mig Jimenez's artful brush.
Here are six books I have and used to dig a little deeper into the history, development, make up of the interior and exterior of the actual vehicle. |
