Chapter 11 - Aber Vision Ports
1. I choose to thin the armour on the plastic superstucture by scrapping the inside down. I did this to help with the fit and the look of the armour thickness in scale. Next time I will use the Aber superstructure photo-etch set for this part of the tank. It will impart a more to scale feeling and aid in the fit of these interior details. Ah well live and learn...
2. Another look. I have used a home-modified X-Acto blade. It has been given a broader profile and sharpened with a Dremel tool.
3. I first glued the flange in place but since I was going to use solder I neede to rethink this false start. I have not made these before so I was learning on the job. The idea to use solder was to prevent the pieces from breaking off during the process- I find the CA glue bond to be too brittle.
4. & 5.The final product went together fairly easily using tweezers and a magnifying glass.
6., 7. &. 8. Here I have glued the vision block/vision port hinge in place using Testors glue. The armour klapp will get attached after this has set up. |
