I wouldn't call the CFM-W turret an oddball, just distinctive. The others (Scullin Steel, Pittsburgh Steel Foundry, GSC, and an unknown) were all pretty much the same (and like the kit) and you can't tell who made it without climbing aboard. You'll see variations in the placement of some minor seam lines and in the lift lugs. The pack racks varied and the rain gutters were not always present but these were not permanent items. I saw GSC S/N 73 out at Ft Lewis WA and it still had remnants of a pistol port in the casting.

The front of the hull was a casting and included the drivers hatches and the front of the turret race. The sides of the race were castings as were the engine deck areas and the rear. The joint at front curved up from the floor, behind the glacis, went approximately horizontal then curved up between the glacis and race side pieces. A horizontal seam went under the races and continued rearward then up. The rear joint was vertical but there were two of them. (IIRC the rearmost plate was thinner than the main side plate.) The asymmetry comes from the intermediate plate - it was longer on the right than on the left, say maybe 36 vs 24 inches. Some - I'm guessing the early ones - had large arced seams back there rather than straight lines.

Like most of the stuff, I've just been collecting data. I don't do the analysis until I'm ready to do something with it.
