Chapter 4 - Interior Progress
Sometimes you need to make a decision. I finally found the full combat history of the intended tank, and I've reached my frustration limit on this interior. So I've been able to both decide on how I want to display the finished product, and I've decided that I'm not going to go TOO bonkers on interior detail and mainly focus on the overall presentation and the most visible areas. Instead of a majorly disassembled shop scene, it will be a hasty field repair.
The transmission housing and driver controls were actually quite nice and went together nicely. The shift lever was the only problem and the instructions would have you put it in the complete wrong place, just a matter of trimming and relocating.
The driveshaft was shown as exposed, with an incorrect generator for an M4A2. I went closer to reality by scratchbuilding a tunnel cover, not too easy to get a good photograph of though. Since I finally got good research I could start a correct bulkhead, but that will take a bit longer until I'm ready to show it.
Another major failing was the seat mounts. The interior kit has a simple post into the floor, so I've made a rough representation of the actual spring suspended seat brackets. Since it won't be very visible, I'm not knocking myself out on this one. It still needs some work and cleaning up, but here's the current look of it. |
