Chapter 8 - Engine Compartment Finished
Finally, progress is going along smoothly and some big milestones have been passed. Here is the finished, assembled, plumbed and painted engine compartment.
Most of my references show the engine painted a darker color than the interior, and a few color photos of recent vintage show what I believe is GM Corporate Blue for the engine itself. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
The plumbing is a bit hard to see, but I did the full plumbing for the fuel system as well as all the visible coolant and storage tanks. If you look closely down in the depths, you can also see the red nozzles for the fire suppression system.
The upper hull didn't get much at all, just a Tiger Model Designs bow .30 cal machine gun set. Not everything was used in this case, since the ammo can is mounted on the transmission housing, but the gun and ammo belt really do look nice. |
