Chapter 13 - Base coat and marking the camouflage
Well, I had planned on showing how I did the basecoat.... but lost the pictures in a terrible 'wrong button' incident. I basically used the same method as James Weschler in his build though, so you can also look at his pictures. The initial paint coat was in a dark brown, overcoated with ModelMaster 'Sand' sprayed straight from the bottle. However, I didn't leave as much final shading as James did, as I will be doing a more complex overall scene and don't want to make things too confusing.
In the photo here I've used Mike Starmers diagrams provided in his excellent books on British camo schemes to mark out the disruptive pattern to go on later. This method is much easier than going straight to paint, as you can take your time more and plan things out ahead of time. When actually spraying, it's as simple as a paint-by-numbers picture. |
