Chapter 18 - Markings and the fiddly bits
Ok, few more parts added here to the 'ole Sherman. The Formation early .50 cal is a very nice piece, and the antennai have also appeared. The type and lengths match both the origin photos and multiple other sources.
One thing I learned long ago from figure modelling is the art of 'pinning'. For transportation, the long antenna, all the figures and the .50 cal are held in place by lengths of music wire and aren't actually glued down. Gives the pieces more strength, easier to paint, and less chance to break when I'm bringing it to the show.
I'd also like to thank all the decal donations I've recieved, you guys saved me a LOT of cash. They came from multiple sources such as Archer, I think Accurate Armour, and all the lettering is from Woodland Scenics who had some pretty close fonts in their railroad line.
The base, figures and stowage aren't even close to done yet, but this Sherman is ready to start weathering now. |
