The Fenders – Part 2

Now that the fenders are installed, I needed to make the support brackets. It seems that the post-war remanufactured Shermans didn’t use the ‘C’ channel supports seen on HVSS Shermans (and included in the Aber set). Instead, they seem to have used a simple rod bolted to the fender and hull.

To make this, I cut a piece of 0.025 inch rod 8mm long (took a little trial and error to figure out how long to make it). I then flattened and bent each end using a surgical clamp (a needle nose pliers would work fine too). This process turns out to be pretty easy and quick and the resulting part looks about right.

Lastly, I promise that this will be the worst photo of the entire blog!
