Chapter 20 - The Crew
Any good tank needs a crew, and here is the 5 men that run Bacchus. Three are from the excellent Resicast tank crew set, and the other two from an OK pair by Verlinden. Unfortunately the Verlinden heads stunk, especially compared the the much better Resicast products. So I ended up picking up the matching Resicast head set, which improved the figures greatly.
The paint is about 5 different brands. Tamiya, Citadel, ModelMaster, Gunze and some Vallejo. I tried a new technique and didn't use any washes or drybrushing. Instead, the overall basecoats I went with a more pro-active method and painted on layers of shading and highlighting with a fine brush in order to achieve the look.
Normally, I hate painting figures and am never happy with the result. These came out much better than my usual, and I think I will continue with the technique and see how it improves.
Almost done now with the whole project. Just a couple small details to paint, a final coat of clear flat, and then assemble it all into the final layout. |
