Weathering
The weathering process has begun. I used rust and yellow ochre pastels which were ground into powder on sandpaper. They are mixed on wax paper with turpentine and applied to the model as spot washes. I wetted the area to be applied with clean turpentine first. Burnt umber and black oil paint were also used in the same manner; but entire process could have been done with just pastels, which are very inexpensive.
An MV lens was placed on the headlamp, it received some weathering also. I see so many modellers weather their tank but leave the MV lens clean and shiny, I don't think headlights on a tank repel dirt...do they? |
