Constructing The Gun Platform

I first started straight out of the box, the parts were assembled unchanged. Then I discovered some differences between the model and the pictures I had. So I disassembled and modified the model. Baluard provided some pictures from a private collection that cleared things up and after modifying the hole gun platform once, I had to do it a second time.

I simply took of the pivot platform and broke of all side support plates to reconstruct them from plastic sheet. The triangular hole with the curve was drilled and cut following a master template I made.

The handrails are bent in shape and modified a little bit. On the left side I attached some hooks for gun crew equipment.

On the pictures I discovered a sort of wiring and a box on the right side of the gun. Styrene sheet and Fruilmodel wire were use to simulate that. And after getting the other pictures of course, the same wiring was found on the left side and guess what, I had to do it on the left side also.

The push rods of the recoil mechanism are made of surgical steel rods. I took some photo-etched parts from Dragon's Initial Tiger to detail the steps on the front of the gun.
