Chapter 10 - Restarting the blog, and the project.
Well, it has been nearly a year since I started this project, and way past time to finish it up.
After it was pointed out the turret shouldn't have a rear machine gun, I sort of lost heart. Plus, the PE was proving to be more of a challenge than I expected. So, setting the kit aside, I moved onto a few other projects. I've gotten a lot better at dealing with PE and modifying kit parts, so taking a break seemed to help.
The lower hull is mostly finished, as you can see, including a base coat and painting the road wheels. The tracks...well, either one track length has an extra link, or one hull side is a little shorter than the other. Either way, the left side tracks are tighter than the right, and because I used the soft steel wire included with the Friul track set, I can't really take them apart to add another link. Lesson learned. These days I use #17 pins to assemble the tracks (it's quicker, and also easier to extract one if necessary).
The main turret has been fixed, and I'm making good progress on the upper hull. I'll post pictures of the components over the next couple of days, to show how things are going. |
