Roof

The roof of the truck consists of slats running front to rear along with three series of more running across the roof.In the middle is a large frame antenna that doubles as a roof rack for gear.I can only assume these slats were simply reenforcing for the sheet metal roof but it looks to me like a pretty complicated system. I have over two hundred pieces in the roof alone GREAT THERAPY!!

I modeled the roof by building a basic frame from thick strips of Styrene. These were sanded to the proper rounded shape then the center open area was sheeted over with .015 sheet styrene.This was all sanded/feathered together to form the basic roof shape.the slats were then glued in place. While applying all these strips I noticed that all that glue was begining to cause the roof to bow so I superglued three brass I beams along the length of the roof on the underside, Problem solved.

Fine Brass L shaped channel was used on the outside edges of the roof slats and finished them off great.I still need to add the frame antenna and the roof will be all set.
