Markings and Detail Painting

For a little variety, I decided to make this model as a Firefly IC in service with the Czech Independent Brigade which served with Commonwealth forces during WW2. Bison has recently released a decal set with markings for a Czech Firefly IC Hybrid. After a little online checking (or is Czeching?) I found some partial references that indicated that the Czechs had both the Firefly IC and IC Hybrid. This isn’t too surprising since they were pretty much the same vehicle.

So I used the markings for the Bison decal set. I probably should have changed the serial number but I had no idea what to change it to so I left it. The decals are pretty straight forward markings complying with Commonwealth identification practices. But the placement of the white star on the turret is original. My best guess is that it was placed there so it could not be seen from the front quarter but could be seen from other angles to make it easier to be identified by other allied forces.

I also painted the tools, headrests, and other small details at this time in the same manner as documented in my Sherman V DV blog.
