The Chassis

I have jumped right in and assembled the chassis. The build is easy and goes together fine.

The rear springs included are reinforced double springs units introduced in 1942 to solve overloading issues on both the 4x2 and 4x4 vehicles but as this kit has the earlier 6 holed wheels precede the introduction of the double springs so the single springs would be more appropriate for a early built truck.

To modify the springs back to the single spring units you simply cut off the additional top springs and add back from thin plastic card the retaining plate and four hex bolt heads which I carefully trimmed off a extra Panther road wheel.

Tamiya's box art is always a great source for detail that is left out of the kit. I could see on the box art a small chain on the storage box so I added one from leftover PE, and since you can see the rear brake line from under the truck I added just what you can see from wire.
