I have been perturbed about parts of this kit since I got it, and especially after seeing your excellent work here. In Tamiya's original parts, just how the heck did the shorter set of springs work - there is nothing in the kit for them to work against! I finally got annoyed enough to go and dig out my copy of the Wings & Wheels Publications Opel Blitz in Detail to see how these springs actually worked.
Tamiya has left out (off) four metal stops that attach to the chassis frame and serve as contact bumpers for the loose ends of the small springs. I have attached some art of what these things look like for those T-Lers who don't have access to the W&WP book. Eduard or Part will probably include them in a PE set down the line, but they can be simplified and made from a piece of I- or L-beam for those who, like me, can't stand to see the springs hanging in space with nothing to do. The base of the bumpers I've drawn is slightly wider than the spring, and the other dimensions can be worked out accordingly - the pieces will be so small that finesse is really not an issue. BTW, the hatched area in the rear bumper is a solid molding to reinforce the corner. The location on the chassis frame should be obvious enough. The front bumper is level with the bottom of the frame, and the rear bumper hangs down below the edge of the frame.
Another alternative that appears in one or two photos is a simple peg (maybe a diamond-shaped piece of pipe or bar) as a front bumper, and the fancy piece in the rear. HTH.
