Erik,
There are lots of Pacific theater tanks available without having to get exotic kits. The Sherman was used everywhere (DML makes a M4A4 with Chinese markings, Tamiya's original M4A3 has the famous wolf's head markings used by US forces in the Philippines), M10s were used, Italaerei's LVT series and DUWK, Stuart tanks were used as well as M3 halftracks, M8 HMC, Matildas and Lees were used by the Australians. Tamiya makes the Chi-ha, Chi-ha Shinhoto and Ho-Ni. Fine Molds which is available from HobbyLink Japan, Great Models to name a few make the Ha-Go, Chi-Nu, Chi-He, Te-Ke and TK tanks. So there is a lot not to mention all the Allied soft skins. Plus you could do late war Soviet tanks used in the final days against Japan in Manchuria. So go for it!
