Hi Sven,

I'm working on a Leoapard 2E at the moment, using both Hobby boss kits and theTamiya 2A6 kit. The Hobby Boss kits are basicly cheap rip offs of the Tamiya kit with softer/worse detail and some short cuts on parts engineering. (BTW, he STRV122 kit seems a duoble rip off, from Tamiya and the HCKW resin conversion set.)
Most parts are interchangeable though, the big exception is the upper hull side plates which are integral with the hull pan on the tamiya kit and seperate parts on the HB kits.
-For a Tamiya/HB hybrid I would use the T turret with the bustle cut away and replaced by HB parts.
-For the rear hull plate I would use the T one too, cut out the central portion and replace only that section with HB, as the HB rear plate is rather simplified compared with the T one.
-The APU (right rear hull upper) takes some serious cutting and work to get the HB parts in place, but it's doable.
-Tamiya part C24, the guidance rail for the drivers hatch, has a serious problem with the new ad on glacis armour. Ad the latter first and then reduce C24 for the best result.
-Use tamiya parts A1, towing hooks, and cut their mounting slots from the T glacis (it's hidden by the new armour anyway) and place these below the ad on armour on the nose plate. HB totally ignores these items.
Most HB parts are sub standard compared to Tamiya, but it's a less expensive way then using a resin conversion.
Voyager makes a very good PE/resin update set (with very nice smoke grenade launchers), Eduard does a good PE set, and there are several link link tracks available, eg. AFV, Armour Track, Elte, and at least two others I do not remember at the moment.
Succes.

Cheers,
Alex

PS.
Before I rather shamefully forget it, good build of the Strv 122, Roderick!
