Thanks Paul,
The dust was done using MIG pigments. No real secrets, I just applied the pigment (European Dust in this case) with an old thick jaggered brush in a random fashion. I then used mineral turpentine to fix the dust with a large (size 6 or 8) soft brush. For the top panel I fixed the pigment in random but gentle circular and jagged series of movements. For the side panels I fixed the pigments by applying the turpetine in a downward stroking fashion.
Usually once is enough but I did this technique a couple of times to simulate a very dusty and dirty vehicle. A word of caution, don't use too much turpentine as it will wash all the pigments away and if it settles on the vehicle it could possibly erode some one the paint, depending on the type of paint you use.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Mick
P.S. Thanks to the others for their kind word of support and encouragement. |
