Frank - great looking model. I am presently scratchbuilding this same beast on the DML kit. (I didn't have the $ for the New Connections conversion, but I could afford a few pieces of pastic card and I have quite a selection of German WW 2 kit parts from my years of modeling.) I followed the basic shape of the NC conversion, but the problem I am now having is finding an aftermarket barrel that is big enough for the beast. All I can find is the Jagdtiger/Maus 128cm.
I talked with David Fletcher (Bovington Museum Director) some time ago about a photograph I have of the E-100 chassis (with its running gear fitted) at the tank museum in Bovington. He told me that the chassis was indeed at the museum for a period after the war as part of the School of tank technology collection. He also said that many years ago he was approached at the Museum by a visitor who claimed to have the original receipt, from a scrap dealer in the southhampton area, for the E-100 Haul. I agree with you, it is a shame. Sure would be nice if it had survived.
