Hi Mark,
There are spots where I am removing mold seams from the kit (not on the real turret), so I do plan to use some Mr. Surfacer on it. Looking at photos, the turrets are smooth but show flat spots from grinding down on some areas. This means that my application of Mr. Surfacer will not be even on the turret to allow for some sections to have more texture than others. The same will be done with the upper hull.
