Somua, char de cavalerie, S-35

This is a model of the well known Somua, one of the best french tanks of 1940. The gun/armor combination was better than that of any german tank, and the mobility was fairly good. This is not the whole story though. As with almost all french tanks of the time, the turret only had one man in it, which seriously impeded the efficient operation of the tank.

The model is from Heller, and I do not recommend it. The plastic is too soft and the parts are not well cast. Despite all this, satisfactory results can be achieved with some sweat.
