Sturmtiger
Tamiya's sturmtiger was built mostly straight out of the box, with small additions of left over brass fret here and there. One of the pistol ports on the side of the hull was scratch built with the addition of a Aber's PE chain. The hull had zimmerit applied using milliput putty and was textured using a set of white metal stamps, later some zimmerit was removed to simulate wear and tear. Battle damage was also add to the exhaust heat shields by way of thinning and punching holes through with a knife blade and dents with heat application. On The Mark photo etch was added for the riffling in the barrel. Welds were added to the various hull fitting by way of stretched plastic stock and cement, then detailed with the dremel tool. The engine deck screening was from Armour Research Company with the addition of a few holes for damage. Hull fenders were formed from a few left over pieces from the Verlinden Tiger 1 PE set, attached and detailed with bolt heads shaved from pieces in the part box. The tracks had the guide horns drilled out and were applied following painting of the hull.
Jeep
The Tamiya Jeep is the new kit on the market, which is a very nice quick build. This little buggy was built out of the box other than the addition of brass from an old PE fret and some brass wire for the top. I wanted the top to be in the up right position so the frame work was fashioned and tissue paper served as the canvas, this was formed with white glue and water.
Both vehicles were painted using the pre shade method of adding black as the base coat and building up of the primary colors each unit. They were then given a coating of Future floor wax and decals were applied. Weathering was completed similar to my Jagdpanther using a combination of pastels and light over sprays of buff etc.
Diorama
Ground work is celluclay and static grass, the tree was fashioned from copper wire twisted up and a foam was applied to form the shape of the "greenery", crushed parsley was then added for the leaves. The brick wall was from an old plaster set I had laying around.
Figures are from various Tamiya sets which were re worked and topped off with two Ultracast and one Verlinden head. All figures were painted with oils.
