ZIS-5V Cargo Truck

Model by Alexey Fominykh

This is the Red Army ZIS-5V cargo truck (Zvezda) with original driver figure and resin laying mechanic from SK Models/Penza. Being too lazy, I placed the scene onto the base taken from my previous Tunisian diorama ("The Tiger’s Path"), just rooting out the phoenix palm tree. Now it looks like a dusty road somewhere in Crimea in spring of 1944!

The truck was slightly converted (spare wheel put into the right position, connecting brackets added to the frame, only one headlight is left, that was more common for the wartime trucks). The hammer and sickle decals are from Zvezda kit (Stalin’s portrait in the cab is not seen, unfortunately). Canvas over ammo boxes made of tissue paper over matchbox. Rusty fuel barrel came from spare parts box. All painted with enamels and oils in pre-shading technique, with lots of pastels for weathering.
