This model is the Merkava Mk. III released by Academy some time ago. This kit really needs some work as several important mistakes have been done by the manufacturer. As can be seen on the pictures, I replaced the tracks with the Friul set which brings more life to the kit. The roof has also been completely reworked, as well as the turret sides which were too short and not wide enough. Lots of small details were also added. The Side skirts have been reworked and separated into sections like the real machine. The wheels are of an early model, and have been drilled as to match the current version. The machine guns have been redetailed using the verlinden set and some chain. The rear canvas tilt is made from lead foil found on a good bottle of wine!! The anti skating surfaces have been made using a mixture of tamiya putty and acetone, applied with a stiff brush. The rear baskets are also redetailed with lead foil. The paint work follows the current Israeli army regulations, who has replaced the sandy grey color for the olive green.
