This model is the Merkava Mk. II released by Academy some years ago. This kit is really good, and better researched than the Merkava III.I left the original tracks as these were quite good. Lots of small details were also added. The Side skirts have been reworked and separated into sections like the real machine. The machine guns have been redetailed using the verlinden set and some chain. The rear canvas tilt is made from lead foil in a similar fashion as for the MKIII. The anti skating surfaces have been made using a mixture of tamiya putty and acetone, applied with a stiff brush. The paint work follows the current Israeli army regulations, who has replaced the sandy grey color for the olive green. The reconnaissance flag is also made from lead foil and painted bright orange.the ball and chain armour was a paintaking task, as all the chains were individually cut every five links,or so, and a tiny pearl was glued on one end. two sets of sixty chains were made for the MKII and the MKIII. But in the end, the result was really worth the effort.
