In 1945 the British Army Authorities at Wolfsburg (where the VW factory was located) thought that the main part of the factory could perhaps be re-operated for car production. According to VW's data a total amount of 1785 vehicles were produced under enormous difficulties between May and December 1945. It is obvious that all efforts of production were based on the two previous main types: the beetle and the Kubelwagen. Both were appropriate for nearly every conversion needed at the time. The Post Office vehicles were among these conversions. Almost similar to the Beetle Post Office conversion was the only one Ambulance car produced.
The kit used is a 1/32 Beetle Car of Airfix (since at the time of construction the CMK kit was not yet available in the market). There were used Evergreen plastic sheet, beams, straps and rods. Milliput putty and Italeri's Kubelwagen wheels.
The construction steps are evident by the accompanying photos. The kit was painted by a mixture of Tamiya acrylics of dark yellow and buff (5:1) plus 3-4 drops of gloss lacquer. The decals were found in the spare box. Washes of a mixture (3:1) of Humbrol's ochre (no.83) and black (no.33) enamels were applied.
