Humber Scout Car

Model by Warrink Brothers

This is Accurate Armour's Humber Scout Car kit finished as a vehicle used by the 11th armoured division.
It needed some work to build it into a decent model; the roof hatches, for example, were totally useless so I scratchbuilt them using plastic sheet, taking measurements from the kit parts. The PLM mount was not fitted on the particular vehicle we chose to make so I fitted a blanking plate on the roof top.
Tools and other various bits were taken from other kits or scratchbuilt to replace poorly moulded Accurate Armour parts.

The model was sprayed in Humbrol enamels (mix of 155, 86 and 105 IIRC). We applied the markings in Tamiya acrylics using Stencilit masks. The stars and census numbers came from Archer Fine Transfers. The model was 'spotted' with diluted black enamel, chipped, given a wash, and finally dusted with Humbrol 72. the Stencilit masks were new to us, but they work extremely well after some practice.
The tyres were drybrushed in black after dusting, to simulate were the dust has worn off.

After all it was an enjoyable project, but it took some time to get it right. It will eventually be put on a base with an Ultracast crew figure.
