BMW R75 Motorcycle w/ Feldgendarme

This 1/9th scale kit was originally put out by ESCI and has been reissued by Dragon, (Kit No: 1801) for a few years now. The release is a little incorrect, in that someone told me, the BMW R75 really wouldn't be without the usual sidecar connected at its side. The reason being, the bike is so big and heavy, a person, even a big German soldier, wouldn't want to drive this thing without it. But its still a nice model.

I put this together a couple of years ago as a break from the usual boogie wheeled items. This kit includes everything you need to make a wired and sprung replica. The shocks and seat have springs! There is also included by the Dragon release a beautifully sculpted and cast vinyl rider. The face is truely one of the best I've seen.
I didn't include this in my shots as the face still needs to be finished with oil paint.

I painted my bike panzer gray, and it represents a motorbike used by the Werhmacht in WW II. The seats should be black not brown. I thought they may be leather but I think they were made with that strange plastic-like stuff the Germans used to upholster their vehicles. The decals are great too, with lots of choices.I chose to leave off any divisional markings except the badge of the motorcycle units. I did a little aging and weathering, choosing to keep the cycle somewhat clean for display.

The BMW R75 went together real easy and the detail is surprisingly good for this vintage of injection model kit. I think there is a version of this BMW R75 kit with side car out there as well so maybe keep an eye out for that one if you want a more authentic replica.Dragon also has a few other models in this range. There is a Kettenrad (which I started some time ago but have stalled on) and a Zundapp KS750 which I hope to get to one day...
