Jagdpanzer 38 (t) Hetzer, early version

Model by Warrink Brothers

This is Dragon's Hetzer kit, with Friul tracks. Most of the detailing is home-made. We used plastic card and strip, brass scraps, and some PE parts such as buckles, tie-downs and tool clamps. The jack, wire cutter and Notek light were taken from Tamiya's Panzer IV OVE set. The tool box was built from plastic card, using an Aber panzer 38(t) tool box as a stencil for marking the positions of the holes. The MG mount was totally scratch built from plastic card, using some 50 pieces. The Schürzen were also scratchbuilt, as were many other details. For variety, we made the starter crank bracket on the rear, which has its protective cover moulded on in the kit. The Hetzer was painted using Humbrol enamels, with a wash of artist's oils. Caked mud was made from gel-type superglue stippled on with a brush (use an old one for these jobs!), and painted with enamels.
