This little vignette depicts two Germans trying to stay warm as they await another attack by Allied tanks. Their rifles and Panzerfausts are close at hand and their uniforms show the signs of hard wear.
They've scrounged a couple of wooden chairs to burn in an oil drum. The setting is any German or Belgian town in the late Fall of 1944. The faded Dubonnet sign hints at more peaceful times from so long ago.
I wanted to convey a sense of cold and thought it would be a good use of the flickering LED to indicate the fire in the drum.
I sculpted the wall from balsa foam and covered it with spackle. The roof tiles are paper. I hand painted the advert. The oil drum is from Tamiya. The figures are Verlinden with different heads. The chairs are laser cut from chipboard.
