This is CMK's little desert Beetle. Five or six of us Haligonians picked this kit up on the day it arrived in town, back in the spring of 1999. I quick-built mine over the course of the following 5 days.
DML Kubel tyres replaced those of the kit, and replacement Notek light and horn come from Tamiya's now infamous Pz. IV On Vehicle set. I also added the fire extinguisher as well as the interior door handles from styrene.
Interior stowage - goggles, map, sub-machine gun, spare tyre, binocs, wooden box, and satchel were pulled from the spares box. When building the kit, I didn't trust CMK's decals, so I used some from one of Tamiya's large accessory sheets - but as most of you know by now, Tamiya's decals can be VERY thick, and if you look closely, can see that the door palms caused problems. With the benefit of hindsight, I now recommend using the kit decals, or even better - getting dry transfers from Archer.
The kit was preshaded dark brown, and airbrushed with Tamiya acrylics. I finished by liberally dusting with pastel chalks.
Finally, if you build this kit, I strongly suggest replacing the windows provided in the kit with overhead film or some such. I didn't, and it really shows - particularly with the rear side windows.
