What inspired me to do this diorama were the excellent box art and figures by Tamiya and DML plus trying to capture in minature some of the WW II re-enacting I have done.
The bazooka team is from DML and the other figures from Tamiya. I enhanced all the figures by re-scrbing all the details with a sharp hobby knife. All plastic figures are a bit soft in detail otherwise they wouldn't come out of the mold. Straps on the rifles and helmets were made of thin lead foil. All the heads and the hands on the bazooka team are Hornet products. The figures were painted with Windsor/Newton oil paints with detail painting done with Valejo acrylics. Baking soda was added to the helmet paint much like the original helmets that had sand added to cut down on the glare. I used Archer Fine transfers for the sargent's rank. 30th infantry (the re-enactment unit I was with)unit badges were hand painted. The Archer Fine Transfer markings were in scale too large measuring a scale 6 inches instead of the real 3 inches. The people at Archer were real great on refunding my money even though I did try and use one insignia.
Landscaping is a mixture of hemp rope (ala Shep Paine), sagebrush twigs, scouring pads, oregano, Celuclay and Hudson & Allen forest litter. [View discussion] [Discuss my model]
