Steel Wheel Panther G

Model by James Tainton

This is my rendition of #221, a steel wheeled Panther. I used the Aber photo-etch fender set and some of their tool holder set on this Tamiya kit. I rebuilt some of the stock parts such as the towing pintle and cleaning rod tube. There was also lots of detailing here and there. I used the individual links from the new Dragon Panther A. For the extra links on the side of the hull and the turret I used some left over Fruilmodel white metal links.

For reference I used; Achtung Panzer 4, "Panther", Concord Publications, "Panther" (#7006), Concorde Publications, "Battle of the Bulge" (#7045), has a nice color plate on pg. 36, Ryton "Panther in Detail", Jentz's "Germany's Pather Tank, The Quest for Combat Supremacy". Spielberger's "Panther & Its Variants". And an article by Lester Plaskitt in Military Modelling (Vol.31 No.11)was useful to me and I received some private images of the real tank from a fellow modeller out east, via e-mail, (thanks Bruce).
