M4A3 W Late - 14th Armoured Division

Model by Mark Cooper

Believe it or not ... originally this was suppose to be a simple out of the box project intended to get back to the model bench after a 6 month absence. However, as the photos show things did not worked out as planned. One fix/modification lead to another until 5 months had passed as I was rushing to finish the project for an upcoming hobby show.

The model is based on a photo and color plate from the Concord Sherman at War (7001) and it is intended to represent a vehicle that has only recently been issued to the troops.

As mentioned it is the old Tamiya M4A3 with DML tracks, Elefant barrel with Mr Surfacer, assorted PE, brass wire and styrene for detailing. The model was painted with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with Humbrol enamels and pastels. The markings are Archer Fine Transfers and Eduard Quick Masks. The canvas was made with tissue paper with assorted stowage underneath.

Overall, I really enjoyed the project and even though it took a lot longer then intended it re-kindled my interest ... probably because I built it for fun rather then planning out every detail months in advance. Proof of this is that 2 major accidents that nearly destroyed the project (1 involving a full bottle of liquid glue and the suspension) didn't even bother me. (Phil - Thanks for the replacement parts)
