Panzer IIIJ DAK DML kit

This is the Revell rebox of the DML PzIIIJ kit. I got this kit cheap on eBay, and thought, hey I'll build it out of the box, life will be easy that way...

What a fool!! I started this kit after we moved last July. I finished it in early April. I did build it OOB aside from the following:
1) I removed the rear mudflaps, and replaced them with tin foil versions. My first attempt, and they look OK.
2) The tools are a mixed bag in this kit, and there are huge locating marks on the fenders. I used some tools from other kits, and some Royal Model PE.
3) I replaced the barrel with the Rubio long (too long) 5cm barrel.
4) I added fine wires for the lights, horn etc. I simulated a broken lamp by drilling out the mounting post, and added a stub of wire.
5) I drilled out the MG barrels and added an antenna from fine guage steel wire.

My goal was to build a relatively new PzIII in the desert. I painted the lower hull and running gear in PollyScale Dirt. The desert camo color is PollyScale Mud. I weathered the kit in a few ways. I tried adding baking soda to the hull as crusted dirt. It sort of worked. I used some Gunze Sanyo Dust paint. It's paint with grit in it. That sort of worked. I used lots of coats of PollyS dust all over the kit. I think the effect worked in some places and not others. I also used lots of pastel chalks after a bit of an oil wash.

The base is kitty litter mixed with artist's medium. I added lots of chalk dust there too in an attempt to blend the kit with its background.

Any feedback would be welcome. I don't recommend using PollyS dust all over a kit!! :p
